Major Programs under GCE-India
Grand Challenges Explorations- India (GCE-India) is the Indian arm of the Grand Challenges Explorations (GCE), and is part of the joint partnership of the Department of Biotechnology and the Gates Foundation.
GCE-India is a global program which is part of the GCI program and focuses on providing people with ideas with small seed funds through a fast-track grant process, to allow them to develop and provide initial evidence on the workability of their plans or concepts or ideas.
It is designed as a feeder program to generate ideas for the larger Grand Challenges program.
IKP Knowledge Park is the implementation partner for the program and PMU-BIRAC is the managing partner for the program. GCE-India provides funding for 18 months to the tune of $100,000 to grantees.
GCE-India is open to anyone with an idea, in the country. The goal of the program is to encourage the pursuit for developing new medical technology devices, drug delivery systems, diagnostics, and technology enabled service models that can potentially be made available to people from all socio-economic strata.
