Title: We have collected coelomic fluid from the earthworm, P.excavatus by non-invasive methods, processed and formulated for production of alternative for FBS. Briefly, the collected coelomic fluid was processed, heat-inactivated, formulated and standardized. The effectiveness of this formulated HI-CF in supporting cell attachment, proliferation, and growth has been proven in adherent cells. This has been tested in a range of cell lines and shows promising results when compared to FBS and serum free media. A patent was filed for employing coelomic fluid as a cell culture supplement, while another patent was being prosecuted for the f-HICF serum-free medium as an alternative to FBS.
