Enject Safety Syringe

Title: Single Use Safety Syringe with Passive Needlestick Injury & Reuse Prevention

Innovator: Alfa Corpuscles Pvt. Ltd.

WHO guidelines on engineered technology syringes state that, whenever possible, it is advisable to use devices with safety features that are activated either automatically or manually which are designed to prevent reuse and needlestick injuries and which have been shown to be effective in protecting patients and providers. Alfa Corpuscles, utilizing breakthrough technologies including award winning integrated, spring actuated passive needle stick injury and reuse prevention to provide a simple and effective solution. The EnjectTM safety syringes provide much needed safety and regulatory compliance. What distinguishes this product from competing safety syringes? Our Safety Syringe is different. By design our integrated, spring actuated passive needle stick injury and reuse prevention technology is wholly unique to the syringe market and meets all regulatory requirements including OSHA and EU safety compliance standards. Passive safety, combined with intuitive function, ensures that not only the needs of healthcare workers and patients are met, but the needs of stakeholders at all levels are addressed. This includes:  Integrated, spring actuated passive needle stick injury and reuse prevention technology  Adaptable for glass and plastic syringe barrels in RTFS/ Vaccine Syringes  Cost Competitive compared to regular syringes  Shortly available in Dual Chamber version maintains the individual contents in completely separate chambers and allows for drug and dissolvent/dispersant to be separated until use. Allows quick and complete combination of powder/liquid mixed for low volume of parenteral  Fully compliant to regulatory and various ISO standards including ISO 594, ISO 7886, ISO 11040 and ISO 23908 Standards  Reduce error and contamination risk in RTFS and Vaccine Load versions  Compatible with all injectables  It can be used for any form of hypodermic injection such as IV, IM, SC  It has an option for interchangeable needles and freedom of choice to user  It is compatible with universally available needles and accessories  It requires minimum or no training at all to healthcare workers for use  It does not require active participation of the user in activating the safety feature  It is permanently disabled after safety mechanism is activated  The hands and fingers to stay behind the needle when the safety mechanism is activated  The use of our safety syringe is similar to the use of a conventional syringe  Using the syringe is a one handed operation  The design is adaptable to all existing sizes of syringes commonly used for injection purpose to accommodate various drug volume  No Blood Spatter on activation  The used syringe occupies as little space as possible in the sharp disposal box  Disposal of the syringe is as per accepted norms and practices  Enhanced efficiency  Ease of use It is designed to be economically mass producible as there are no mechanisms metal components or vacuum devices that may lead to failure over shelf life. Also, all components in contact with pharmaceuticals are constructed of USP and EP compliant materials.

USP: The Enject Safety Syringe, with patented integrated, spring actuated passive needle stick injury and reuse prevention technology, integrates the latest technology for full regulatory safety compliance. Enject single chamber design and/or customized design is now available for Technology Licensing in various nominal capacities. Alfa utilizes medical grade USP biocompatible materials that meet FDA criteria. How does the syringe prevent needle stick injuries? Integrated, spring actuated passive needle stick injury and reuse prevention technology, at the end of injection without any necessary activation procedure provides full compliance with OSHA and EU Bloodborne Pathogen directives. Passive needle retraction is the key to safety, as any syringe which has a form of needle cover shield, cap, or lid to cover the needle is not considered a complete safety syringe as the care giver can be injured during placement of the cover over the exposed needle, contaminated with blood. The Enject Safety Syringe does not have a separate need of activation twisting or capping to engage the safety . Our activation is automatic after the injection. The needle is retracted into the syringe body after the injection with a gentle push on the plunger. Award Winning Technology The Enject Safety Syringe is the result of over 9 years of safety and medical device development spearheaded by Dr. Atul Sardana, Head of Product Research & Development of Alfa Corpuscles. Dr. Sardana has an extensive record of successfully developing drug delivery and medical devices and his efforts on the safety syringe have been acknowledged by various national and international agencies, and the invention has been awarded the Silver Prize at the Seoul International Invention Fair 2012. Alfa Corpuscles has utilized this award winning technology to also design the safety prefilled syringe for single chamber as well as custom designs for glass or plastic syringe barrels. This patented technology will be implemented into Alfa’s pipeline devices including devices for Vaccine Load Safety Syringe, double chamber design Safety Syringe allowing lyophilized powder and liquid solution to mix when ready for injection and the and Thermostable Oral Vaccine Reconstitution and Delivery.
