Call For Proposal

This open call under Grand Challenges India (GCI–BIRAC) aims to support indigenous innovations and transformative solutions in the priority infectious disease areas – i) tuberculosis, ii) emerging pathogens, iii) syndromic panels and iv) enteric pathogens. The call focuses on high-risk, high-reward innovations for screening and diagnostics, with an emphasis on near point-of-care and ultra-low-cost solutions that can significantly improve accessibility and availability.

• Focus on transformative, high risk, high-reward innovations and solutions
• Two funding level - i)       Exploratory proposal with support up to INR50,00,000.00 ($55,000) for up to 12 months duration, and ii) Solution, innovation, product or technology proposal with support up to INR 2,00,00,000 (USD 200,000) for up to 18 months duration
• Open to academic, clinical, and industry-led collaborations
• Emphasis on multidisciplinary partnerships and Consortia based approach
• Supporting innovators through funding, technical handholding, scale-up and deployment pathways

Indian academic and research institutions, public and private R&D organizations, start-ups, and not-for-profit foundations
