BIRAC supported Bugworks Research and Pandorum Technologies under the Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) have won the 'Top Innovator' award at the Economic Times Startup Awards 2017. Bugworks Research has been recognized for developing a way to beat bacterial drug resistance, which will pave a path for the development of novel antibiotics to counter the threat of superbugs, bacteria that have become resistant to antibiotic drugs and will help to tackle Antimicrobial Resistance.
Pandorum Technologies on the other hand are doing ground breaking research and have developed 3D-printed human tissues for medical research and therapeutics. Both startups were judged winners in the ET Startup Awards 'Top Innovator' category.
